Background: Christina was raised in Napa, California, graduating from Justin-Siena High School, and attending UC Santa Barbara. Prior to law school, she lived and worked in St. Petersburg, Russia from 1994-1997. She graduated law school from UC Hastings in San Francisco and then practiced law for seven years. She then obtained her MBA from Michigan State University in 2009 and returned to the Bay Area, California to (re)open her estate planning and family law coaching practice.
Experience:
· In her tenth year as a lawyer
· Five years in family law litigation & estate planning
· Five+ years managing small, family-owned business
· Represented hundreds of family law litigants
· Participated in thousands of hearings and trials for family law cases
· Two years corporate law firm experience
· 40-hour mediation training, 2005
· Represented diverse client base: from those on public assistance to multi-millionaires, men and women aged 19-70, divorce, paternity, and child support cases, and litigated in three counties.
Skills: Christina has a variety of unique skills that make her particularly suited to her dual practice. First, she has experienced illness and loss within her own family when her father (and law partner) passed away, so she is not only keenly aware of how critical it is to prepare for difficult times, but she is also gentle and understanding with her clients. She also spent five years practicing family law litigation, so she is well-versed in the law, the practice, the intricacies, and the difficulties of a family law case. Finally, her MBA combined with five years of small business experience give her the ability to provide superior quality service tailored to each individual client's needs.
Services we offer: We focus on providing estate planning services and hourly coaching for family law cases.
Estate Planning:
· Living Trusts avoid probate and maximize the estate you transfer to your heirs. Transfer your estate with ease and save 18-24 months of probate court, avoid giving 10% of your gross estate (asset value without regard to debt) to attorneys, minimize or eliminate estate tax, and keep your estate private.
· Powers of Attorney (health care and property) allow you to decide who will make decisions for you if you cannot.
· Advance Directives ensure your wishes are carried out in the event of serious illness or accident.
· Nominations of Conservator and Guardian determine who will care for you and your children if you cannot.
· Special Needs Trusts protect disabled children or adults.
· Asset management/Spendthrift Trusts delay the transfer of your estate to young adults perhaps unprepared to handle a large estate suddenly.
· Pet Trusts care for your pets when you cannot, so they do not end up at the animal shelter once you are not around.
· Family Limited Partnerships transfer a large estate to your heirs with the benefits of a corporation and partnership to avoid estate tax.
· Buy/Sell Agreements provide the means to transfer your business.
· …and others.
