Paul Stanko earned his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in only three years, graduating a year ahead of his class. He then went on to take and pass the Indiana Bar Examination after just two years of Law School, graduate a semester ahead of his class, and become a lawyer at the age of just 23. He tried and won his first Operating While Intoxicated (OWI, DUI, DWI, OUI) cases his very first day as a deputy prosecutor, in 1979. Within weeks of becoming a lawyer, Paul Stanko was already trying serious misdemeanor and felony criminal cases.
In 1985, Paul Stanko became a presiding judge of the Superior Court of Lake County at the age of 30, serving in that capacity for over 7 years and consistently receiving the highest ratings in his division from the Lake County Bar.
In over 30 years of practicing Indiana criminal law, as a prosecutor, judge and defense attorney, Paul Stanko has handled thousands of DUI, DWI, OWI, OUI, drunk driving cases at the trial and appellate levels.
As an adjunct professor at Indiana University for over 10 years, Paul Stanko taught Constitutional Law and other university level courses to hundreds of students, many of whom are now lawyers, police officers, or other participants in the criminal justice system. He is an acknowledged expert in the field of Constitutional Law, especially Search and Seizure.
